What is the purpose of the Target field in an Email template

Saving an email to your library is a great way to re-use your work. Setting a custom autoresponder for all of your forms and linking the autoresponders to your saved library enables you to manage your responses in one place.

In the Properties section of the saved email template is a 'Target' list. This is used for configuring where this email template will show up. Emails are always used in workflows. For those campaigns that have the workflow hidden, you can assume there is indeed a workflow behind the scenes. For those workflows that you do edit (autoresponders, campaign workflows, account workflows, etc), one of the key steps is the "Email to <>" step. There are 4 step types:

Email TypeDescription

Email to Prospect

These emails will be sent to the contact that triggers the workflow (form submit, phone call, etc). Those email templates that are tagged with a target 'Prospect' will show up as an option when creating emails for this action.

Email to Sales

These emails will be sent to an employee of your business, or to a list that is appropriately tagged as 'Sales' as a target. Those email templates that are tagged with a target 'Sales' will show up as an option when creating emails for this action.

Email to Marketer

These emails will be sent to an employee of your business, or to a list that is appropriately tagged as 'Marketing' as a target. Those email templates that are tagged with a target 'Marketing' will show up as an option when creating emails for this action.

Email to Sender

These emails will be sent to the person who is emailing Enquire MAP directly. Those email templates that are tagged with a target 'Sender' will show up as an option when creating emails for this action.
